Homeschooling, Unschooling and Family Creative Learning

This page shares the journey of two homeschooling sons, Shivansh (11 Nov 2014) and Devansh (11 Feb 2018), as the family explores learning without rigid boundaries in the AI age.

Since 2002, Sushant and Vijaya have worked as creative freebirds through a home studio, building a life around design, branding, digital content, online projects, freelancing, minimalism and independent thinking. Now that same spirit is moving into family-led learning, practical online work, AI skills and conscious living with the next generation.

This journey is for parents, homeschooling and unschooling families, off-grid and off-system families, college design students, creative women looking for a career restart, and aspiring home-based freelancers who want real skills, not just certificates.

What We Have in Mind — The Path Ahead

Our focus is children’s freedom, less pressure, real future skills, AI and technology readiness, business skills, life skills, online projects and meaningful collaboration.

We followed a free-flowing unschooling approach for the initial years. Before that, the children experienced preschool and a year or two of regular schooling. At present, we use YouTube, Udemy, Coursera, Khan Academy, books, courses and learning resources from different countries and systems, including OBE / open learning, NIOS, CBSE, ICSE, Cambridge resources, Olympiad books and skill-based courses.

Our current plan is to offer 10th and 12th through NIOS Open Board. At those stages, the children will also study according to the required NIOS curriculum. For higher education, they may continue with bachelor’s and master’s degree paths through online degree options such as IGNOU or other suitable platforms, depending on their interest, eligibility and future direction.

The larger idea is not merely to save school or college money. The real aim is to invest that energy, time and money into exposure, skills, travel, tools, books, projects and, eventually, their own startup, studio or meaningful work path.

Freedom does not mean carelessness. A family-led learning path needs more awareness, not less. These areas are kept in mind as the journey grows:

• Legal rules, academic documentation and recognized exam pathways
• Portfolio building, project records and proof of practical learning
• Reading, writing, communication, math, logic and financial literacy
• Sports, outdoor play, health, sleep and physical discipline
• Online safety, screen discipline and age-appropriate digital exposure

• No pressure on children to earn; monetization must be age-appropriate and parent-guided
